Contemporary is a type of dance that breaks from the traditional framework, incorporating styles such as jazz, ballet and modern. Taking this idea forward, I would love to create a space where ideas are allowed to mix and evolve into something new. Located in Camden, the area has a strong sense of community with numerous community markets and events. This scheme not only aims to provide a place for dancers to express themselves but also aims to become a gathering place that grows with the community.

Although the existing structure is damaged by fire, I would like to include parts of the existing building in my scheme. Therefore I have utilised the reclaimed bricks as a facade element, creating dappled lights that subtly speak the story of the place. Copper facade elements are also used throughout the building, and as they patina over time the appearance of the building develops with the local community.
